carli's homecoming. we'll check with him ahead at 5:30. new information in the bill cosby scandal. a public official tells us he believes cosby could face criminal charges based on the comedian's testimony and a sexual assault lawsuit ten years ago. vai sikahema is live for us in our digital operations center now. vai, what charges could cosby possibly face? >> well chris, let me sum it up in one word perjury. we're hearing that from the former prosecutor who tried to file charges against the comedian years ago. monday night we brought you cosby's admission that he got quaaludes, a sedative with the intention of using them for young women with whom he wanted to have sex. the admission came from a deposition cosby gave ten years ago in '05. a temple university employee accused him of drugging and sexually asauling her at his home. conte commissioner and former d.a. bruce caster who is running for his old job says cosby may have lied under oath.

>> it is as good as what we'd get in a sexual assault case? no. he's an old man. you put him in jail for a couple of years, he'll probably die. >> perjury is a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison. bill cosby has never been charged with a courtroom and we have new information just in to the newsroom in the past few minutes. a disney spokesperson says a bust of cosby at walt disney world's hollywood studios was removed last night after the park closed. live in the digital operations center, i'm vai sikahema nbc 10. >> the downfall of bill cosby's reputation began last fall. some of the allegations dating back to the 1960s. the temple employee, andrea constance, came forward to police in 2005. no criminal charges were filed against cosby but she settled her civil lawsuit against him the following year for an undisclosed amount. it wasn't until last year that

new allegations have brought attention to cosby. since then more than a dozen women have made allegations against him. a man is recovering after being stabbed in north philadelphia. investigators say after he was stabbed in the arm and leg, he ran to a nearby chinese food store, called 911. the suspect was arrested. investigators are calling this a domestic incident. this morning we're learning more about the punishment for the young suspects accused in a group attack on a homeless man outside a gas stafion in north philadelphia in april. a judge has ordered a 14-year-old boy to juvenile detention center and is deciding on the punishment of two other kids. three women are also charged in the beating that left the victim in a coma. philadelphia police are offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest in the second suspect accused in a shooting that injured seven people last month. the first sus pekt dennis

tindal was charged. he was involved in a fight with a group of men in kensington and promised to return. he came back with a second suspect armed with a shotgun. he allegedly shot seven victims. this principal is off the job, accused of indecent assault of a student. george symonds is his name. authorities say he began inappropriate contact with an eighth grader last year in his office and in the school's bathroom. his lawyer said symonds will fight the charges in court. new this morning in chester conte, police looking for the person who stole american flags in coatesville. volunteers put up 70 flags to celebrate the fourth of july. someone swiped three of the flag which belong to the coatesville vfw post 287. police in northfield atlantic county are missing a

device men to the slow down drivers. they believe a thief made a speedy getaway. check out this tweet. someone stole one of their electronic radar signs that show you their speed. it was posted on cedar bridge road. we checked online and fon those devices sell for about $3,000. the time is 5:05 in new information about hazing allegations at st. joseph university. an investigator fon nod violations by the university or the women's softball coaching staff. two players -- former players filed lawsuits against st. joe's and the head coach. the students claimed they were harassed forced to drink alcohol and engage in sexually demeaning acts. the lawsuits are still pending. the school canceled the team's last three games of the season after the allegations surfaced. >> 5:05 now. 78 degrees. happening today, tom wolf will be in chester conte to discuss education. he'll also get questions about the current budget standoff. this is all part of the schools that teach tour. today wolf will be visiting

downingtown middle school. last week, he vetoed a republican task spending plan. there's still no budget in place. an arbitrator is siding with the teachers union in a fight over counselors laid off by the school district. if the decision is upheld every philadelphia public school could have a full-time counselor by the start of the next school year. from our south jersey bureau there's an ambulance controversy blewing in camden. governor christie signed a bill allowing cooper university hospital to take over paramedic services from virtua health systems. virtu aext virtua's says his company is pursuing possible legal action. happening today, get ready for fun in the water. the fun safe philly program is

having a pool party. the program links younger kids to free and low-cost summer activities and puts teens in touch with summer jobs. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> seven minutes after 5:00 this morning. it's a warm muggy start. i'm already tracking showers this morning. they're not in the area just yet. but later this morning, we will see the first showers arrive and this afternoon possibility of thunderstorms with those storms could come heavy downpours. a lot of moisture in the air. we could see some isolated areas of flooding. those areas of poor drainage that get the showers. millville at 78. it's now down to 78 degrees in philadelphia. temperatures are slowly coming down. clear, dry view from center city looking past city hall this morning. sunshine to start with but the clouds are already starting to increase from the west.

that's where we're seeing the line of showers. this is a slow moving cold front that's going to come in with a chance of showers and possibly heavy downpours. we've seen those moving through punxsutawney this morning, heading due east. most of what we'll see this morning is cloud cover and high humidity. and then scattered showers later in the morning. 73 this afternoon, mt. pocono chance of storms for reading and quakertown. we'll keep the temperatures in the low 80s today. 85 for trenton, doylestown 82. could see showers and thunderstorms this afternoon for mt. holly and at the shore, the showers will be delayed coming in. that will allow the temperatures to climb, upper 80s for rehoboth and cape may. vineland is up to 86 this afternoon. showers possible this morning. storms this afternoon for westchester, drexel hill and swedesboro. seven-day forecast when i come back in ten minutes. and it does have some drier conditions on it. timing when i come back. >> hopefully dry weekend conditions included in that. thank you, bill.

eight minutes after 5:00. jessica boyington is watching the traffic. where are you seeing it. >> we are looking at small delays around the tacony palmyra bridge on route 73 in new jersey. not a lot of volume because it is still early. generally during the morning rush hour we see that backed up past this enter section. a little bit of volume accumulating up here residual delay, due to an earlier opening. out on 95 heading out the door in delaware, no problems, 11 minutes or 10 minutes headed northbound or southbound from 295 up towards 495. no problems septa, no delays. we are having several loans and trains running with fewer cars. new jersey transit fine and patco is doing okay so far as well. it is a charity that provides temporary homes for families caring for children in the hospital. last year they had to turn thousands away.

federal investigators are looking for the cause of a deadly midair crash involving a fighter jet and a small plane. these aerials show the site where the air force f-16 collided with the plane yesterday morning. two people on board the small plane died. medics took the pilot to a base hospital for observation. now look at the wreckage. this is the f-16 jet. the crash rained down debris over a wide area of marshes and rice fields. the impact of the jet left burning metal, splintered trees and a crater. the small plane was destroyed. right now, more than 1,000 army troops in canada are fighting these massive wildfires. more than 13,000 people were forced to leave their homes in british columbia an evacuation that officials are calling unprecedented. u.s. firefighters have also been called to help try to get a handle on those fires.

donovan mcnabb is again facing dui charges in arizona where he lives. police arrested mcnabb on june 28th after his car rear ended another car near phoenix. no one was hurt. in 20 in he's convicted of a second dui so close to the first, he may face up to 90 days in jil and suspension of his driver's license. police raided a home in a heroin bust. police arrested dustin drew yesterday on several drug possession charges. he's being held on more than $40,000 bonn. look at what police say they found inside his home. nearly 1,000 bags of hoern plus marijuana and suspected drug money. 5:14 now. a local woman will be honored at the white house for her work in fighting a disease she knows all too well. emily kramer-golinkoff will be

recognized as part of the champions of change initiative. she's the co-founder of emily's entourage which focuses on finding new treatments and a cure for the disease. the champions of change program was created to feature people from across the country who empower and inspire as emily has done here. she talks about the program on her website. >> we are at our heart a family organization that's being propel propelled by a community that keeps getting bigger. we're one family. there's a lot of other families like us. >> last year, the white house launched the president's precision medicine initiative to focus on individualized treatment. the 21st annual summer picnic at the dupont hospital for children. delaware state police along with hospital volunteers will be surfing up food and providing fun activities for kids and their families.

new this morning, one of philadelphia's oldest charities say they face an uphill challenge as they try to help more families. >> reporter: the ronald mcdonald house here in university city and also the location in north philadelphia, they are in desperate need of expanding. last year alone they had to turn away more than 2,000 families because there just isn't the room. now, it turns out even for this hometown charity, the summer months are a difficult time to raise money for their normal operating budget as well as their expansion hopefuls. people who are on vacation they aren't thinking as much about giving as they do other times of the year. plus the ronald mcdonald house is compete with other worthwhile causes in the area. families consider this round the clock hospitality service to be life saving. >> we need to basically be able to accommodate more families. the demand is only increasing

and our vacancy rate is impossible to manage. we really need to do more. >> reporter: what happens inside? well out of town families are here for weeks if not months at a time while their children are staying at local churn's hospitals receiving medical treatment. coming up in the next hour about how this home in particular turned a very difficult situation into making it bearable. reporting live in university city, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. 5:17 now. we have new information for you about the repair work on the knox covered bridge in valley forge park. officials say they expect the bridge to be closed until the end of this year. that's because a crash sometime over the weekend caused damage to the 150-year-old bridge. the repair work will begin in september. hopefully all the other bridges out there are covered this morning. and jessica boyington is watching that. >> we can check. jessica boyington has you covered as you head out the

long-time spokesperson jared fogel after federal agent raided his home as part of a child porn investigation. the fbi searched fogel's house in indiana yesterday and left with several computers. fogel became subway spokesperson after losing nearly 250 pounds by eating subway sandwiches and exercising. subway says the raid is likely linked to a former employee at the foundation that jared started. the company behind some of your favorite treats could be getting ready for stock market launch. landon dowdy is here with that in this morning's cnbc business news. good morning. good morning to you. hostess brands the maker of twinkies ding dongs and other items is looking into an ipo.

over on wall street futures are lower this morning. investors may react to a big sell-off in asia overnight. chinese stocks dropping to a four-month low even as the government imposes emergency measures. china's market has dropped 30% in just the past month, sparking fears about the health of the world's second largest economy. the dow posted its biggest reversal in more than three years after being down 218 points, the dow closing up 93 to 17 17776. >> a sigh of relief for our 401(k)s. thanks. we have weather volatility on the way, too. temperatures 78 degrees right now. 80s this afternoon. high humidity and you'll see sunshine, at least to start with at cape may. that's a dry view from the marquis de lafayette hotel. 78 degrees at 5:25.
